Rockwell Jaw Stand Review
I wish I had a nickel for every time I wished I had an extra hand to hold something on the job site.
When you work alone you have to come up with jigs and methods of working that one; keep you productive and two; allow you to complete a project without extra help. The Rockwell JawStand is just that, “a helping hand.”
The folks at Rockwell sent me their JawStand to evaluate.
FIRST IMPRESSION:
The Rockwell JawStand was lightweight, easily portable, and easy to set up. The stand when set up is well balanced and stable and the tripod based support is its ability to pivot 0 to 90°, and swivel 360°.
The built-in clamp features a coated rubber surface on its face to avoid marring workpieces can clamp up to 1-3/4″ thick material and the stand raises to 41″ off the ground.

USING THE JAWSTAND:
I did not use the JawStand for holding doors or cabinets but I did use it to support stock at the miter saw. It worked well as an out feed support for both my miter and my table saw.
I usually use my wobbly roller stands for this purpose; the JawStand replaced these rollers with “wobble free” security. It also collapses nicely for storage.
The clamping support surface can be raised from 25 to 41 inches by loosening the locking knob and lifting the column up and down. I was able to adjust the JawStand to the exact height of my workbench.
OVERALL IMPRESSION:
The JawStand performs as advertised. It’s a great second set of hands when needed. This stand is great for a DIYer or anyone who uses a miter saw or table saw and would like a reliable, study out feed support.
Although I did not try this it occurred to me that a simple 2×4 clamped into the JawStand with a 3’x3′ plywood sheet screwed to the board would make a nice work bench or support table.
One thing that I was not impressed with was the clamping mechanism.
I felt that Rockwell stopped just short of creating a quality clamping vise or mechanism. The clamp provided is tiny does not match the length of the jaws. In my opinion the clamping pressure was too light and clamped too small an area.

It also is expected to be available through various local retailers such as Woodcraft Supply and independent hardware stores, home centers and lumber yards.
